I have been gluten intolerant for many years and it took 6 years after taking gluten out of my lifestyle to get to this point. I have leaky gut syndrome. It feels good to put a label on it finally. But I am not cool with the name…

Last month I attended a Gluten Free Meet Up where a speaker specialized in nutrition and cancer. She knew a bit about autoimmune disease, celiac disease and leaky gut syndrome. She asked us all a few questions. She looked at me and said “you don’t have celiac disease you know you have leaky gut syndrome”. “You are the classic case, years of antibiotics, low immune system and you are unable to eat gluten”. Funny it felt good to hear that! Yikes what a name Leaky Gut!

I have been very strict on never eating gluten and trying to stay to a healthy grass fed Non GMO diet. But still issues with digestion come up and how I always feel really full or bloated after eating a salad or fruit? I just can’t seem to get this under control. My problem over the years is when I finally feel good I stray to gluten free baked goods and foods that are not GMO friendly. Then the cycle happens all over again. I take probiotics and other supplements too. But still my digestion won’t heal…

Dr Weil explains it what leaky gut is in this article.

I just read Dr Perlmutter’s second book The Brain Maker and I highly recommend it to many people who have issues with their digestion. He explains all the science behind why the digestion is so very important to us and how we can heal ourselves. The new studies on how to help autism, MS and other autoimmune diseases are also included in this helpful book. It’s like sitting down with a great naturapathic doctor. Here is a short one minute video on how important gut integrity is:

My mission has always been to heal myself. Now I know another part to my health puzzle. I just started using The Brain Maker recipes Dr Perlmutter provides in his book. Reducing inflammation is key to heal. He also suggests a glass of wine with each meal :) Cheers to a happy healthy lifestyle!
